Maintaining Competitive Advantage Through Efficiency & Technology Challenge: When Imagistics, the former fax and copier division of Pitney Bowes, became a newly formed NYSE company, one of their first responsibilities was to build their own distribution center. The new state-of-the-art automated facility was to be primarily focused on piece picking to support repair parts and distribution to copier suppliers. To manage the distribution facility, Imagistics contracted a third party logistics company, BAX Global. Solution: Diamond Phoenix was then selected to design an integrated solution for the facility based on a zone picking system. The system, which combined Diamond Horizontal Carousels, DirectPick™ pick to light, radio frequency picking, extensive packaging operations, and an automated shipping sortation system, was developed with the objective of maintaining a high level of operational efficiency and providing quick turnaround time for customers.
