Order consolidation systems are typically applied in areas where large volumes of material (parts of an order, single SKUs, crossdocked SKUs or returned goods) must be consolidated into limited order containers or locations. Most consolidation systems are one of three types: order-based consolidation, store/department-based consolidation and returns systems.
